Fatma Y. Øktem was born on December the 18th 1973 in Aarhus.

Political Career[edit]

Fatma Y. Øktem has been a Representative on gender equality since 2011, a Member of the the Housing and Urban Affairs Committee from 2013, a member of the The Immigration and Integration Affairs Committee from 2012 and of the Gender Equality Committee, of the Social Affairs Committee and of the Employment Committee from 2011. She has also worked as Project Manager/Consultant for socio-economic enterprises including; the SIC Fund in 2009-2011. She has been Consultant for the Women's Council in Denmark between 2005 and 2009 and is a Job Consultant for Wekan 2005-2007. She has also worked as Cultural Communicator for the Ikast Municipality between 2001 and 2005.

She was a Member of the regional council of the Central Denmark Region between 2010 and 2013, a member of the Advisory Committee regarding Psychiatry and Social Services, a member of the Committee regarding Research, Technology and Innovation in the Public Health Service, a member of the Health Coordination Committee and of the Contact Forum for the Mentally Ill and their Relatives 2010-2011. She was also an Ambassador for Stop Violence Against Women -Break the Silence and a Member of the board of representatives of ‘Trygfonden.
