Feliciano Barreiras Duarte

Feliciano José Barreiras Duarte was born on April 19th, 1966. He currently practices as a law consultant and as a university teacher.

Political Career[edit]

Besides being the president of the Municipal Assembly of Óbidos, Feliciano Barreiras Duarte is also a member of the CPLP (Community of Portuguese Language Countries) Parliamentary Assembly, the vice-president of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship Portugal / Italy, a member of AWEPA (Association of European Parliamentarians for Africa), a member of the Portuguese Association for Political Science and a member of the National Policy Committee of the PSD. Feliciano Barreiras Duarte is currently working on his fourth mandate as a deputy at the National Parliament for the PSD political force, since he started his activity on the 8th legislature (1999-10-25), having suspended his deputy activity during the 11th legislature. He takes actually part of the Foreign Affairs and Portuguese communities parliamentary committee.

Feliciano Barreiras Duarte has been distinguished with the National Politician Revelation award delivered by the magazine Valor in 1997; the Afonso Lopes Vieira award in the category “Personality of the Year”, by the newspaper “Jornal Região de Leiria”; the Merit Award Personality of the Year award, delivered by the League of Chinese, the Chinese Industrial and Commercial Association in Vila do Conde and the Jorge Álvares Foundation; and with the Honorary Citizen award from the countries of Óbidos and Bombarral.

Feliciano Barreiras Duarte is the author of several works related to his region, Leiria, national media, law and immigration.
