Greg Mulholland is the Liberal Democrat MP for Leeds North West

Greg Mulholland is the Liberal Democrat MP for Leeds North West, he was first elected to the seat in 2005. He lives in the constituency with his wife Raegan and his daughters Isabel, Madeleine and Ava.

Political Career[edit]

Before being elected to Parliament Greg was a councillor in Leeds North West for the Headingley Ward, whilst on the council he was the Lead Member for Leeds City Council Corporate Services. Greg works actively in Parliament and is a member of 27

All Party Parliamentary Groups including the Save the Pub Group, the Rugby League Group and the Paediatric Mobility Reform Group. As chair of the Save the Pub Group Greg has been a leading figure on large Pub Company reform and changes to planning law to protect pubs. He has held Westminster Hall debates, as well as questioning Ministers and large pub companies.

After his election to Parliament, he was appointed his party's junior International Development spokesperson from 2005 to 2006. In 2006 he was appointed Shadow Spokesperson on Schools, and in 2007 he became Shadow Spokesperson on Health. He was also a member of the House of Commons Work and Pensions Committee

In 2007, Greg was nominated for best Campaigning Politician of Year in the Channel 4 Political Awards, for helping to secure the release of Mirza Tahir Hussain from death row in Pakistan. Greg is also a patron of a number of local charity groups including Kids in Kampz and Leeds Youth Opera. He works actively on a number of local campaigns to protect hospitals, police and local services for older people.

Education[edit]

Born in Manchester, Mulholland attended St. Ambrose College near Altrincham and studied politics at the University of York, going on to achieve an MA in Public Administration and Public Policy.
