Holger K. Nielsen

Holger K. Nielsen, (born 23 April 1950), is a Danish politician and member of the Folketing for the Socialist People's Party. He was Denmark's Minister of Foreign Affairs from the 12 December 2013 to the 30 January 2014. He was leader of the Socialist People's Party from 1991 to 2005 and served as the Minister for Taxation from 16 October 2012 to 12 December 2013.

Political Career[edit]

He was Minister for Foreign Affairs from December 12th 2013 -February 3rd 2014, Minister for Taxation from October 16th 2012 to December 12th 2013, Member of the Presidium from November 28th 2007 to October 23rd 2012, Member of the Nordic Council 1982 and Chairperson of the Socialist People's Party 1991-2005


Education[edit]

He obtained his MA in social science and Danish from the University of Copenhagen in 1979. He had a year abroad at the University of Belgrade in Yugoslavia 1978.

Notable Work[edit]

He has been a Member of Parliament for the Socialist People's Party in Greater Copenhagen greater constituency from November 13th 2007 and was for Copenhagen County constituency September 8th 1987 -November 13th 2007, and between December 8th 1981 -January 9th 1984. He was a Candidate for the Socialist People's Party in the Taastrup nominatioon district from 2007, for Glostrup nomination district 1992-2007, in Rødovre nomination district 1984-1992, and in Gladsaxe nomination district 1980-1984. He was National chairman of the Young Socialists (SFU) 1974-1977, Member of the central board of the Socialist People's Party 1976-1979 and 1984-2005 and a member of the executive committee 1984-1987.
