Ida Auken

Ida Auken (born 22 April 1978) is a Danish politician and member of parliament from the Danish Social Liberal Party. She was Minister for the Environment in Denmark from 2011-14. Originally a member of the Socialist People's Party she switched parties in 2014. Her mother is Margrete Auken and her late uncle was Svend Auken. Like her mother, she is a priest of the Church of Denmark by profession. She has been a member of the Danish parliament since 2007.


Political Career[edit]

She was Minister for the Environment between October 3rd 2011 and February 3rd 2014, Representative on trade and industry for the EU and consumer policy, Former spokesperson on environmental affairs. Member of the Energy Policy Committee and the Environment and Regional Planning Committee 2007-2011 and Chairperson of the Socialist People's Party's environmental affairs committee 2005-2007

She graduated in Theology studies from the University of Copenhagen 1998-2006


Notable Work[edit]

She was a Member of Parliament for the Social Liberal Party in Copenhagen greater constituency from February 4th 2014 and then a Member of Parliament for the Socialist People's Party in Copenhagen greater constituency November 13th 2007 -February 3rd 2014. Following this she was a Candidate for the Socialist People's Party in Valby, Vesterbro and Tårnby nomination districts 2007-2014, and in Esbjerg nomination district 2004-2006.
