Justyne Caruana
Justyne Caruana is the current Parliamentary Secretary for Rights of Persons with Disability and Active Aging for the Republic of Malta.
Political Career[edit]
Caruana was elected as a member of the Parliament from the 13th district in 2003. She was designated as PL spokesperson for the Youth, Culture and Sports. She was appointed as a member of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship between Malta and Tunisia, a member of the Maltese delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, also appointed as chairperson of the PAM task force on gender equality .
She was elected again to Parliament in 2008 and was appointed as Speakers for Family and Gender and appointed as a member of the Parliamentary Committee for Social Affairs .
Currently, she is also the third committee rapporteur on human rights in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean.
Education[edit]
Caruana studied a Legal & Humanities BA (Italy) at the University of Malta in 1996. The following year, she obtained her Diploma of Notary Public from University of Malta. She soon followed this achievement up by receiving her Doctorate of Laws, again from the University of Malta in 1999. She has also obtained a Diploma in Canon Law and Jurisprudence from the Metropolitan Tribunal of Malta, also in 1999.
She is a lawyer specialized in family law and civil cases and she is an examiner at the University of Malta.
