Karen Buck

Karen Patricia Buck (born 30 August 1958) has been a British Labour Party politician who has been a Member of Parliament since 1997, firstly for Regent's Park and Kensington North until 2010, and for Westminster North after that. She is a former Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Transport.

Political Career[edit]

Karen Buck is the Labour Member of Parliament for Westminster North and is Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Leader of the Opposition Ed Miliband. She served as Member of Parliament for Regent's Park and Kensington North (Central London) between 1997 and 2010. Karen was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Transport from May 2005 - March 2006. She has been a Regional Assistant to the Minister for London, a member of the Select Committee for Home Affairs and a member of the Select Committee for Children, Schools and Families.

Education[edit]

Before entering parliament Karen Buck studied at the London School of Economics before going on to work for a charity specialising in employment for disabled people and later in the same field at the London Borough of Hackney.
