Lilian Greenwood
Lilian Greenwood was born on the 26th March 1966. She is a member of the Labour Party and has represented the Nottingham South constituency as its MP since 2010. Greenwood worked for Unison for 17 years from 1993 till 2010.
Political Career[edit]
She replaced Alan Simpson as the 2010 Labour Party Candidate when he decided not to stand for re-election. She was able to win 37% of the vote which was 4.4% more than her closest competitor. She was placed on the Transport Select Committee in July 2010 and subsequently went on to become an assistant whip. In September 2011, she was asked to take the position of Shadow Minister of Transport by Labour Party Leader Ed Miliband.
Education[edit]
Greenwood was initially educated at Canon Slade School. She then moved on to St. Catherine’s College Cambridge.
Notable Work[edit]
She has campaigned on a number of issues such as equality, improving pensions, increasing funding for the health service and workers’ rights.
