Linda Lanzillota was born 7 September 1948, in Cosenza, Italy. She is an Italian politician, who served as the minister for regional affairs and local communities from 2006 to 2008.
Political Career[edit]
Linda Lanzillota worked as an official in the Ministry of the Budget and then the House of Representatives from 1970 to 1982. She became a member of the Roma City council and served from 1997 to 1999. Lanzillota served as the Secretary-General for the Prime Minister’s office, as well as serving as the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Economy from 2000 to 2001. In the years 2001 to 2005, she taught at the University of Bologna Spisa and was part of the faculty of the Political Science Department in Rome. Prime Minister Romano Prodi appointed Lazillota as the Minister for Regional Affairs and Local Communities in the cabinet in 2006. In 2008, she was re-elected to the Chamber of Deputies for Alliance for Italy. She became a member of the Italian Senate in 2013 and is currently the Vice-President for the Senate. Lanzillota is the founder and president of GLOCUS, which is a think-tank that she founded in 2007. It is aimed to promote reformist policies in Italy.
