Margit Conrad
Margit Conrad was born on the 30th of September 1952 in Kusel. She is a member of the German Federal Council for the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). She is also the Minister of State of Rhineland-Palatinate and she represents the state of Rhineland-Palatinate for the Federation and Europe.
Political career[edit]
She was a member of the German Bundestag between 1987 and 1990. Subsequently, from 1990 to 1991, she was a member of the State Diet of Saarland. Between 1991 and 2001 she served as the mayor for the City of Saarbrücken. She has been a member of the State Parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate since 2006. Between 2001 and 2006 she was the Minister of State and the Minister of Environment and Forests. Subsequently, between 2006 and 2011, she was the Minister of State and the Minister for Environment, Forests and Consumer Protection of the Federal State of Rhineland-Palatinate.
Education[edit]
Conrad graduated from German secondary school in 1972 with the Abitur (A-Level). Between 1972 and 1981 she studied medicine and sociology at the University of Saarland. In 1981 she graduated as a doctor. Between 1982 and1986 she did a training in internal medicine.
