Prokopios Pavlopoulos

Prokopios Pavlopoulos was born in Kalamata in 1950. He is a Greek politician and lawyer. He was elected State Deputy (New Democracy Party) in the national election of 1996 and MP (New Democracy Party) for Athens region A’ in the 2000, 2004, 2007, 2009 and 2012 (May and June) national elections.

Political Career[edit]

In 1974 he served as Secretary of the first President of the Greek Republic Michael G. Stassinopoulos. During 1989-1990 he was Spokesman of the Universal Government ZOLOTAS. In September 1995 he served political advisor to the President of New Democracy, Miltiades Evert. Elected an MP in 1996 and from 2000 until today in the First constituency Athens. The 1996 became spokesman of New Democracy and from March 2004 until September 2007 he was Minister of the Interior, Public Administration and Decentralization. From September 2007 to October 2009 was Minister of the Interior, the new ministry created by the merger of the Ministry of Interior, Public Administration and Decentralisation and the Ministry of Public Order.

Education Career[edit]

He studied Law at the University of Athens.After getting a scholarship from the French Government, he did postgraduate studies in Paris at the University of Paris II, and in 1977 became a PhD in Public Law at the same University.He also speaks English , French and German.

Notable Work[edit]

Pursue an academic career and taught at the Law School of Athens University as Lecturer (1981), Fellow (1982), Assistant Professor (1983), Associate Professor (1986) and Professor (1989). In 1986 he became Guest Professor at the French University Paris II. He worked as a lawyer, business consultant and has participated in many legislative committees.
