Robert Walter
Robert John Walter MP (born May 30, 1948), is the Conservative Member of Parliament for North Dorset in south west England. He was re-elected for a fourth term in 2010 with a much increased majority.
Political Career[edit]
In November 2010, Bob was appointed by Prime Minister, David Cameron, to head the United Kingdom delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. That year he was also elected Chair of the British Group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
Since 1997, Bob has been a member of the British Irish Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (BIPA) and now serves as Chairman of the European Affairs Committee B. In 2008, he was elected President of the European Security and Defence Assembly. He held that post until the Assembly was dissolved in June 2011, subsequently taking new responsibility as the President of the European Security and Defence Association, which was launched in November 2011.
At Westminster, Bob has served on numerous Committees, including the Health Select Committee (1997-1999), International Development Select Committee (2001-2003), and the Treasury Select Committee (2004-2010). From June 1999 to September 2001, he was a Conservative frontbench spokesman for Constitutional Affairs and Wales. Bob is also a leading member of several All-Party Parliamentary Groups.

Bob Walter was and educated at Colston's School, Bristol, Warminster School and Aston University from which he gained a BSc in 1971.
