Tamara van Ark

Tamara Venrooy-van Ark is a member of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (Volkspartij voor Vrijheid en Democratie), and since June the 17th 2010, she has been a member of the Dutch House of Representatives. She was born in The Hague on August 11th 1974.

Political Career[edit]

Tamara van Ark was leader of the Department of Social Affairs and Employment of the Rotterdam municipality from 2002 until 2004. From 2004 to 2009, she was head of the Nieuwekerk aan den IJssel municipality (of work&income, WMO, citizenship, health, youth and P&O). Then she was head of the Zuiderplas municipality (of finance, economic and social affairs and development Zuidplaspolder) from January to June 2010. In June 17th 2010, Tamara van Ark joined the Dutch House of Representatives, first as spokeswoman on long-term care and WMO, and since November 2011, as a spokeswoman on culture and emancipation. Furthermore, Tamara van Ark is the Vice-Chairman of the VVD in the Dutch House of Representatives.

Education[edit]

Tamara van Ark graduated with a degree of Public Administration from Erasmus University Rotterdam in 1998. She also studied Economic-Linguistics at HES in Rotterdam from 1992-1994, but did not complete the course.
