Viscount Goschen
Giles Goschen was born on the 16th November 1965. He is a British Conservative politician. He succeeded to the viscountcy in 1977 at the age of eleven.
Political Career[edit]
During John Major’s tenure as Prime Minister, he served as Lord in Waiting from 1992 until 1994. He then went on to hold the position Under-Secretary of State for Transport from 1994-1997. He joined the House of Lords in 1988. After the House of Lords reforms were brought in by Tony Blair, Goschen was able to remain in the Lords as one of the 92 hereditary peers, becoming the youngest chosen by any party group. During his time in the House of Lords, Goshen served on the ‘Finance and Staff Sub-Committee’ from 2001-2002. He also served on the ‘Finance and Staff Sub Committee’ during the period 2006-2007.
Education[edit]
Goschen was educated at Heatherdown School, near Ascot in Berkshire. He then continued his education at Eton.
